Issue: To Switch From In-House Drivers to Drivers Made by Manufacturers to Ensure Stable Components Procurement

Conventional Problems

  • The stepper motor drivers used in conventional models are made in-house, but electronic components that are becoming more difficult to obtain are increasing, making it difficult to procure them (in particular, production of ICs from a manufacturer which are used in the in-house drivers for many years has ended)
  • Although ICs have been switched to those made by a different manufacturer, quality issues have arisen, and some action is required from the perspective of business continuity planning (BCP)

Solution: CVD Series S Type Driver Ensures Stable Component Procurement and Improves Equipment Performance

Stable procurement of components is an important issue for companies that manufacture specimen analysis equipment. This is because if a situation arises where even a single component cannot be procured, the supply of the product will be halted.

The flat and compact board type driver CVD Series S Type (bipolar driver for 2-phase stepper motors/driver for 5-phase stepper motors) enables stable procurement of components used in specimen analysis equipment. It also improves performance in terms of vibration and noise reduction compared to when in-house drivers are used.

Stable Procurement of Drivers and Reduction of Maintenance Parts

The microcontroller, FET, current sensing resistor, fuse, etc. required to drive a motor come pre-installed on the CVD Series S Type products. Simply by connecting aluminum electrolytic capacitors, a drive circuit similar to an existing product is completed.

If the number of required components can be reduced, management of maintenance parts after the start of operation will also be simplified.

Specially Designed to Get the Best Out of Motor Characteristics for Achieving High Torque, Low Vibration, and Low Noise

The CVD Series is designed to maximize the characteristics of the stepper motor PKP Series, achieving high torque by increasing the output current, and low vibration and quiet operation by full-time microstep control. It contributes to performance improvement such as by realizing lower noise operation of equipment.

Positioning Control via SPI Communication Without the Need for Pulse Generator ICs

The CVD Series S Type's SPI communication compatibility allows direct control of position and speed settings, motor start/stop, etc. via SPI communication. There is no need to use a CPU to generate pulse signals instead of a pulse generator IC. It reduces the cost of pulse generator ICs while also reducing the burden of generating pulse signals.

Reduce Load on Host Controller

The CVD Series S Type can directly capture signals from the encoder. By comparing with the number of pulses from the host controller, it can be used to check for malfunctions due to noise, reducing pulse counters and calculation systems.

Direct Mounting of Drivers on Electronic Boards Reduces Design Work Time

The CVD Series S Type is designed for direct mounting on electronic boards. This eliminates the need for additional adapters, etc., and reduces design work time.
