Features | Electric Lifting Columns EL Series

Easy to Combine With Small Robots OVR to Increase Vertical Reach

Electric lifting columns EL Series is a product that can be combined with a robot to expand the vertical operation range. High rigidity and high accuracy stroke 50 to 300 mm The lineup includes high rigidity and high precision models with strokes ranging from 50~300 mm. Contributes to reducing equipment design, assembly, and start-up time.

Reduced Time for Equipment Design, Assembly, and Start-Up

Robots and loads can be attached directly to the product body. Eliminates the need for the customer to design an external guide and arrange parts, thus contributing to a reduction in equipment startup time.

A Single Robot Controller Controls a Robot and up to Two Axes of Accessories

The robot controller MRC01 and integrated robot controller & drivers MRCU Series can control up to two accessories equipped with the AZ Series in addition to the robot.
For example, when using a combination of one Small Robots OVR, one EH Series electric gripper, and one electric lifting column can be controlled with a single robot controller. Additionally, SCARA robots can be controlled as robots including lift axes, so a single robot controller can control one SCARA robot + one electric lifting column + up to two accessories equipped with the AZ Series.

High Rigidity, High Accuracy, and High Permissible Moment Are Made Possible With Ball Splines

High permissible moment load is made possible with highly rigid ball splines. The permissible moment of 80 N·m makes it ideal for use in combination with SCARA robots.

Capable of Driving Heavy Loads at High Speeds

Example of electric lifting column operation - Figure showing how a white electric lifting column with Oriental Motor logo (mass of moving parts: 5.7 kg) lifts a 24 kg blue cube load upward by 100 mm

Example Operation

  • Load Mass (Total): 29.7 kg (5.7 kg moving parts + 24 kg load)
  • Positioning Distance: 100 mm

Product Used

  • Product Name: EL610AZMK
  • Lead: 6 mm
  • Power Supply Input: 24 VDC
Graph of relationship between positioning distance and positioning time at a load mass of 30 kg - X-axis indicates positioning distance (0-300 mm), Y-axis indicates positioning time (0-4.0 s), and a linear characteristic curve with 1.3 seconds required for 100 mm positioning highlighted with a blue line

The shortest positioning time can be easily calculated

For applicable products of Oriental Motor's electric actuators, a support tool is available to calculate the reference positioning time according to the "model" and "operation conditions."

  • *Please select a mounted actuator model (Electric cylinder EAC Series).
  • *The load mass should be calculated by adding the mass of the load plus the mass of the moving parts of the electric lifting columns.

Selectable Mounting Direction

Floor or ceiling-mounted are available, expanding the range of equipment design.

Advantages of Equipped With AZ Series

Battery-Free Built-In Absolute Encoder Equipped

It is equipped with a small battery-free mechanical absolute encoder (ABZO sensor). This can help improve productivity and reduce costs.

ABZO Sensor
  • Mechanical-Type Sensor
Keeps position information even when not powered
  • Multi-Rotation Absolute Encoder
Absolute position detection is possible with ±900 revolutions (1800 revolutions) of the motor shaft from the reference home position

No External Sensors Required

As it is an absolute system, home sensors or limit sensors are not required.

Advantages

  • Improved high-speed return-to-home + return-to-home accuracy
  • Reduced cost
  • Simple wiring
  • Not affected by external sensor malfunctions

Battery-Free

Mechanical-type sensors do not require batteries.
Positioning information is managed mechanically by the ABZO Sensor.

Advantages

  • No need to replace batteries
  • Unlimited driver installation possibilities
  • Safe for overseas shipping

Simplifying the Main Program via Sequence Function

The AZ Series come equipped with a wide variety of sequence functions such as timer settings for linked operation and during operations, conditional branching, and loop operation. (Excluding some models)
It can be set up using the support software MEXE02, which simplifies the sequence program of the host controller.
